    Default follow-up

I am not one of the people listed above but I will be getting test results for thyroid , liver function and tumour markers of Thursday. When I have these results I'll post them.
I will also be going for yet another bone scan on Friday. They are looking for bone mets (cancer spread). If anything shows up that will mean another CT scan. Should anything show here and there is a problem with the rib I will probably be needing yet another biopsy to determine if it is indeed cancer returning.

Needless to say I am a little panicky right now.
Breast Cancer survivor, diagnosed July 2003, bone mets October 2005, new bone mets and now liver mets. BUT God is healing me!!!!!

Test results are good and bad. Tumour marker CA15-3 is elevated. It has gone from 31 to 65. Liver function test while normal are high normal. The TSH is not available because I still need to do that test. I will be doing it in two weeks. I had x-rays of the chest/rib done today just to have a record of what is happening. Tomorrow is the bone scan. Who knows I may get the results for both at the same time. At this point my GP and I are assuming bone mets. When we get the results we'll know better what to do.

does all the testing and procedures have to be directed through your GP? i went straight to the gyn. oncologist after being diagnosed by my ob/gyn.

The onc ordered the bone scan, tumour markers and liver function tests. I asked GP for the x-rays and he obliges me with any test I ask for. He is very proactive that way. The onc/Dr we have here is an internal medicine Dr primarily. Those working as adjunct are mostly family practitioners. To see a specific onc one has to travel about 10 to 12 hours to get there. The joys of rural BC and only limited #'s of cancer clinics. If I need radiation treatment it means travelling about 10 hours to get there.

oh my goodness, 10 hours? how in the world would you do treatments if it was daily routine? my radiaion was 5 days a week for 6 weeks. thankfully, i could go to the radiation clinic associated with a hospital in a neighboring town.

If I was required to have daily treatments I would either stay at the cancer care house associated with the clinic or stay with one or other of my daughters in either Kelowna or Penticton, which is about an hour away. The girls and I have already talked about this.

    Default Bone Scan

I had my bone scan today. I was able to see the images and the fourth left rib is glowing like a beacon. This was the only place that glowed, so that is a good thing. This could very well mean that I have bone mets again. As soon as I know what the radiologist's report says I'll know if I need to have a CT scan as well to determine what is going on. I am really starting to get a little scared.
