    cancer prevention challenge

there are a boatload of challenges at adbb and on another weight loss boards, i suppose.
whether you are battleing cancer or just want to do some prevention, i think we can start a challenge here. .

the point of the challenge is just to be active, stay active. each week, challengers will just report the activities for that week. most of us, at this point, are members at adbb and involved with things there so i don't want this to an added burden or chore. weekly updates are doable.

April 1 will begin the challenge. spring is coming so there should be plenty of things to keep us active.

my prevention plan will be to make sure i'm exercising/being active for at least 3 days a week.
this is a must for me since i will always have to watch for lymphedema.

Jo. I, too, need to watch for lymphedema. I am walking on average 4 miles 5 times a week at my job, some days it is more. I am hoping to get some sane results from the scan I am having on Friday. These are becoming routine every six months. The tumour marker blood test doesn't usually show anything. I get those results along with liver function tests on Thursday.

Right now with the pain in the rib I am being very careful with what I do. lifting is part of my job so need to becareful with that. This pain reminds me of the pain I had when I had bone mets the first time.

what do you at work? stocking shelves or what?

i continue to bike, climb flights, work out with my stability ball. i've done at least 3 days doing one or more of those since i last posted. the weather is really getting nice now so i would like to add some walking. work is keeping me busy with movement too.

since i started this stay active challenge, i've done no less than 3 days a week of activity. more, in fact, since i'm working. at times, i've done too much and i've had to deal with leg pain but that ache has to be much better than the alternative of a sedentary lifestyle.

lana, are you still able to work? has your activity level been reduced by the circumstances?

Jo, I am still working full time, about 4-5 days a week. Although I designate as much of the lifting and carrying right now. I find by the end of the shift I am tired and sore.

The things I used to lift and carry were 15lb ice cap mix buckets, 10lb cream bags, cases of coffee (small bags for brewing coffee), the boxes of cup sleeves, that kind of stuff. Also the pops/juices/milk/water to restock the fridges.
